Description
The Special Education Law course introduces students to the practice, theory and history of special education law. The course’s primary goal is for students to gain an understanding of the process involved in representing the family of a student with a disability while honing basic trial skills. The course also includes in-depth discussions of the history of special education law and the shifting policies regarding students with disabilities. Throughout the course, students are asked to contemplate the policy and practical implications for both students with disabilities and the school districts responsible for the provision of education services.
